TOXIC
RELATIONSHIPS

I work with individuals that are hurting and those who hurt.

UNHEALTHY POWER DYNAMIC IN RELATIONSHIPS
This dynamic shows up in relationships where favor leans toward one person, leaving the other person neglected and feeling insecure in the relationship. I work with individuals that may not understand how or why they are hurting their loved ones, but they do understand that they are hurting them and want to change their behaviors. I help these individuals to gain insight and learn to replace grandiose and distorted thoughts with more positive and realistic ideas and self-assessments. We will aim to understand and prioritize the needs of others, repair broken relationships, and cultivate empathy.

NARCISSISTIC & EMOTIONAL ABUSE

Individuals who face narcissistic or emotional abuse may be experiencing intimidation, gaslighting, coercion, depression, anxiety, verbal abuse, shamed, blame, criticism and other tactics that can lead to loss of self identity. I see you. Your experience is real and your emotions are valid. I can work with you to heal your wounds and find your sense of self again. We will learn to set boundaries, practice self-compassion & self-love, explore values and learn to trust yourself again.

EMOTIONALLY IMMATURE OR UNAVAILABLE PARENTS

Parents who are emotionally immature or unavailable often provide for their family: safe home, necessities, good education, sports, activities, technology, etc. However, the parent can be dismissive, selfish, self-involved, critical, contemptuous, invalidating, and rely on the child to fill a void in their life. As the parents get older, the child begins to emotionally caretake for the parent. The child becomes emotionally neglected, abandoned, and insecure. This dynamic continues into adulthood. Together, we'll learn how to break from the cycle and focus on your needs.

TOXIC IN-LAWS

Marriage is tough! When you add intrusive and controlling parents that are causing harm to the relationship or your partner, marriage can be twice as hard! I will work with the couple to understand their individual narratives about the parents. As a couple or individually, we will explore where the narratives align and work toward setting boundaries. I understand that both marriage and family are very important. We will explore if and how they can coexist. Family therapy, couple and in-laws, is also an option for this dynamic.
